Under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program, over 9,000 individuals in the province have been granted interest-free loans exceeding 8.5 billion rupees.
According to a report, in just a few months, a unique record has been set for issuing microfinance loans worth 8.5 billion rupees. In the first phase of the program, 5,000 loans were disbursed, and in the second phase, the construction of homes has begun with an additional 3,000 loans.
The program’s portal has received over 400,000 applications, setting a new record. The verification of these applications is being conducted by three independent microfinance institutions to ensure complete transparency.
Currently, over 5,000 houses are in the final stages of completion, and construction of more houses is ongoing. According to the Chief Minister, the goal is to build 100,000 homes in one year and 500,000 homes in five years.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that no recommendations will be entertained in this program, and all loans will be provided on merit. Individuals obtaining loans of up to 1.5 million rupees will need to repay the principal amount in 9 years in monthly installments of 14,000 rupees, which offers significant relief to the public.
The Chief Minister stated, “The state is like a mother, and a mother feels the most for homeless children. I want that no one in Punjab remains homeless, and everyone enjoys the peace of their own roof.” For more information about the project, the portal acag.punjab.gov.pk and the helpline 0800-09100 have been established.
Maryam Nawaz believes this program is turning out to be the largest and best housing project for public welfare, offering millions of homeless individuals the opportunity to fulfill their dream of having their own homes.
