Nasrullah Gadani, a journalist known for his courageous reporting against feudal lords and influential figures, has tragically passed away after sustaining severe injuries in a recent gun attack. The incident occurred near Mirpur Mathelo in Ghotki district, leaving Gadani fighting for his life.
Assailants on motorcycles ambushed Gadani as he traveled to town on his motorcycle, firing multiple shots at him near Kori Goth. Despite receiving three bullets, Gadani valiantly fought for survival. Initially rushed to Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Rahimyar Khan, he was later transferred to Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi. Tragically, his injuries proved fatal, and he breathed his last on Friday morning.
Gadani, associated with the Sindhi newspaper Awami Awaz and active on social media, was renowned for his fearless journalism, often confronting local feudal lords, political figures, and government officials. His reports, which were both published in print and shared online, garnered attention and sometimes stirred controversy due to their candid nature.
Local journalists in Ghotki recall Gadani’s unwavering dedication to his craft, despite the risks involved. Although he had no personal vendettas, his bold reporting style occasionally ruffled feathers. Police are diligently investigating the attack, utilizing technology to track down the perpetrators.
Gadani’s critical condition, with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and lungs, posed significant challenges for medical professionals. Despite their efforts, his condition remained precarious, necessitating consideration for transfer to a more advanced healthcare facility.
