PPP and mayor election

Yesterday, when it was reported that PPP’s Murtaza Wahab became the mayor of Karachi in competition with Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi’s Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, the People’s Party was accused of horse-trading and other allegations.

Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed was at the forefront of this process of blaming and clearly said that the deal of Mayor Karachi for Rs 36 crore for PPP is not expensive.

Awami League chief Sheikh Rasheed said in his Twitter message yesterday that he had said last week that a buying and selling market has started in Dubai. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman will not be allowed to become mayor. He has been defeated in the politics of buying and selling but not in public.

Sheikh Rasheed’s statement clearly proves the accusation of horse trading on the People’s Party, that is, according to the statement of the former interior minister, the voters have been bought and sold, or the votes that the People’s Party got are the personal opinions of public representatives. Not for money, but for money.

Horse trading refers to buying and selling members of national and provincial assemblies, senators, or UC chairmen. They should be forced to vote for their party because of money or any other greed or fear.

For a long time, only the People’s Party is in power in Karachi and Sindh, on which, apart from the Mayor of Karachi, the Chief Minister of Sindh, members of the Assembly and other positions have been accused of horse-trading, corruption, and nepotism.

Undoubtedly, the election of the new mayor of Karachi from PPP is no less than an honor for the top leadership of the party, however, Murtaza Wahab will have to face many challenges while in the position of mayor.

Earlier, Murtaza Wahab had said in a statement that if the mayor of any party other than the PPP comes, he will continue to doubt the powers. If the PPP mayor comes, it will be easier to run the affairs.

It is to be seen how far Murtaza Wahab will live up to the expectations of the people as the mayor of Karachi and what innovative measures will be taken to serve the people, by which the standard of living of the common man can be raised and he can contribute to the process of building and developing the country.
