Tackling terrorism

9/11 was an occasion that might be viewed as a global outbreak of terrorism, that led to a non-stop conflict between civilizations and terrorists.

Pakistan made the decision to join the American war on terror, and as a result, we lost thousands of lives. Let’s set aside the argument over whether or not joining the US war was right or wrong. However, it is true that Pakistan only experienced significant terrorist attacks after joining the American alliance.

Terrorists have been concentrating on security institutions if we look at current terrorism trend. On May 2, the CTD asserted that during the operation in Sahiwal, a significant harm was prevented.

The news of the operation in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, which resulted in the deaths of 3 terrorists and the wounding of 2 more, broke on May 2. On April 29, CTD claimed to have killed 2 TTP and Al-Qaeda terrorists and captured 3. On April 26, it was reported that a fight between the terrorists and the security forces resulted in 2 deaths and 4 injuries.

According to all assessments, terrorism in Pakistan has resulted in a significant loss of life and resources. Despite the fact that it is a complicated and varied phenomenon, terrorism cannot be explained by a single factor. However, some actions do help to restrain terrorist acts.

For instance, enhancing the social and economic well-being of the populace, putting an end to homelessness and unemployment, preventing extremism and the use of hateful content, and elevating the standard of life of the masses are all measures that can improve the society.

The government must spend more money on health and education. Promoting religious unity and tolerance through interfaith communication is another crucial step in the fight against schisms. It will support the reduction of extremism and sectarianism in our society. In this context, protecting minorities’ rights to religious freedom is equally essential.

Moreover, counter-terrorism measures should be strengthened. To be able to stop any terrorist occurrence before it happens, law enforcement and intelligence apparatus must be improved.

If we want to root out terrorism, we must adopt a multifaceted and pragmatic approach, in which it is important to eliminate the root causes of terrorism, ensure that the law is effective, advance justice and fairness, and eradicate extremism. We can combat terrorism in the nation by doing some of these actions.
