HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old Muslim woman was allegedly raped by a Hindu accused inside a temple in Hyderabad. The police have arrested the accused, Bhagat Karam Chand, and registered a case under section 376. The incident was reported to the G and R police station of Hyderabad on 24th April, by the victim herself.
The incident has sparked outrage among the local community, and many are demanding swift justice for the victim. The police have assured that they will take all necessary steps to ensure justice for the victim and punish the accused.
SSP Hyderabad Amjad Ahmed Sheikh has ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident and has directed Inspector Nizamuddin Sheikh to start an investigation along with the police party. ASP Cantt Alina Rajpar supervised the entire investigation.
Officials said the medical examination of the woman was conducted along with the arrest of the accused.
The victim revealed that she is a 35-year-old divorced mother of one child. She went to Rani Bagh for a walk with her family on the day of Eid. From there, she and her family went to see the Shiva temple where she met the accused. The victim alleges that the accused offered to solve all her problems and took her to a room inside the temple, where he sexually assaulted her after sprinkling anesthetic powder.
The accused then threatened the victim, warning her not to tell anyone about the incident, and fled from the spot. However, the victim managed to reach the police station and report the incident, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Further investigation and legal action are underway.
