KHAIRPUR: At least four people were killed and over a dozen were injured on Tuesday when a passenger bus overturned in Khairpur district of Sindh.
The accident occurred at the National Highway near Gadeji where a passenger bus overturned, killing four peeople including a woman. Around fifteen other passengers were also wounded in the accident.
The ill-fated bus was heading to Karachi from Peshawar. Rescue teams reached the spot after being informed and shifted the dead and injured to a nearby medical facility.
A day earlier, at least eight people were killed and 68 injured when two buses collided head-on in Bahawalpur. The deadly crashed occurred at around 17:30 on Hasilpur Road in Khairpur Tamewali.
According to police, one of the buses attempted to avoid a motorcyle rider travelling on the wrong side.
The bus lost control and collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction.
The dead included a police officer identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Ghulam Shabbir. The bodies were moved to Bhawalpur Victoria Hospital and Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Khairpur.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the accident and ordered an investigation. He has instructed medical teams to provide the best treatment for the injured.
