A tragic incident unfolded in Kasur when a young man, identified as Waqas, was gunned down outside a court building for contracting a love marriage.
According to police, the girl’s brother shot Waqas dead on the court’s premises in what is being described as an honor killing.
Waqas, a resident of the nearby village Roshan Behla, had married the girl against her family’s wishes. The girl’s family had previously filed an abduction case against him. During the court hearing, the girl testified that she married Waqas of her own free will and that the abduction charges against him were false.
Following the hearing, as the proceedings ended, the girl’s brother opened fire on Waqas, killing him on the spot.
District Police Officer (DPO) Essa Khan Sukhera has formed a three-member committee to arrest the accused and investigate the matter further.
The police are actively searching for the girl’s brother, who is the prime suspect in this honor killing.
