A 19-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being shot by a married man in Sahiwal, Punjab, for refusing his marriage proposal. She succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Imran, a resident of Mohalla Shamsia, is currently on the run. Imran, who is already married and has a young daughter, allegedly pursued a relationship with the victim, Alisha. However, both Alisha and her widowed mother rejected his proposal, prompting him to resort to violence.
The Ghala Mandi police have registered a murder case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Farzana, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
In a separate incident in Pakpattan city, a man was attacked and shot due to his brother’s court marriage. The violence occurred in Mohalla Hasanpura, where family members of a woman named Rabia launched an assault in retaliation for her marriage to Muhammad Areez, a local tailor.

Areez and Rabia, who wed through the court in early February, had gone into hiding fearing backlash from Rabia’s family. In response, her mother filed a kidnapping case against Areez at the City Police Station.
On Sunday, Rabia’s relatives stormed Areez’s residence and shop, where they found his brother, Usman. The attackers brutally beat him before shooting him twice in the legs. Hearing the gunfire, neighbors intervened and managed to secure Usman inside a room, preventing further harm. The assailants fled while firing shots into the air.
The City Police have registered a case against Muhammad Usman, Ali Raza, Riaz Ahmed, and two unidentified individuals based on Usman’s complaint. Authorities are investigating the matter.
