ISLAMABAD: The International Day of Women and Girls in Science will be observed in Pakistan on 11 February to expedite efforts for ensuring women and girls’ participation in science by removing the obstacles.
The main objective of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is an assurance to end the gender imbalance in the field of science.
the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution “A/RES/70/212 declaring February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science”.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that science and gender equality were both essential for the achievement of the internationally agreed development achievements, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Over the past 15 years, the world community has made a lot of effort in inspiring and engaging women and girls in science. Globally, less than 29 percent of researchers are women.
Consecutively achieve full and equal access to and involvement in science for women and girls and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls 11 February had declared International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
