NEW YORK: The WhatsApp application will stop functioning for Windows smartphone users on 31st December.
It’s currently available on select versions of the devices but will cease this month.
Starting 1st January, users of Windows Phone will no longer receive bug fixes, updates and new features in this most popular messaging application.
This was announced several months ago by WhatsApp and the last update for these phones was also released in June 2019.

WhatsApp will also stop working on several Android smartphones and iPhones next year.
As of 1st February 2020, people using Android versions 2.3.7 or older will not be able to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts. The same fate will apply to users of iPhones running on iOS 8 or older.
WhatsApp Messenger is a freeware, cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP service. It allows users to send text messages and voice messages, makes voice and video calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other media.
