A man allegedly shot and killed his wife and injured his mother-in-law in the Mohalla Khwaja Gharib Nawaz area of Multan.
According to police, the deceased, Amina, had gone to her parents’ home after becoming upset with her husband, Muhammad Rahim. She had also filed a khula petition against him in the family court.
Police said that, allegedly over the dispute, Muhammad Rahim entered his in-laws’ home and opened fire, killing his wife Amina and seriously injuring her mother, Abida Mai. The suspect fled the scene and a search is underway to arrest him.
The injured woman was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for treatment, while Amina’s body was also taken to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Multan City Police Officer Sadiq Ali Dogar said the suspect would be arrested soon.

Earlier this week in Rahwali, Gujranwala, a woman was allegedly killed with a sharp-edged weapon.
Police said a case was registered against the woman’s two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, and all three suspects were arrested.
Police said the victim had been married for 10 years and her husband was living abroad. The complainant alleged that the suspects killed the woman following a minor dispute, while police said an investigation into the incident was underway.
