An “Argentina football house” is making rounds on the social media as an UAE businessman gifted it to a south Indian “football commentator” whose unique commentaries had gone viral during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Afi Ahmed, an UAE businessman, built the house for Subair Vazhakkad, a farmer in Vazhakkad village in Kerala’s football-crazy Malappuram district.
“It is my dream home. I don’t have words to thank him,” Subair was quoted as saying in Gulf News.
Afi said he felt immensely happy about presenting the “most apt gift to a hardcore Argentina fan”.
Throughout the FIFA World Cup matches, Subair’s commentary in the regional Malayalam dialect had become the talk of the town on social media. The small-time farmer was thoroughly knowledgeable about all the teams and players despite lacking any professional qualifications.
It should be noted that Afi earlier had flown a young Messi supporter Muhammad Nibras from Kerala, to Qatar by Afi after his heartbreaking video of Argentina’s historic loss to Saudi Arabia went viral. When the businessman learned about Subair’s passion for the game, he offered to fly him as well to watch his favorite player compete in the World Cup.
However, Subair had to turn down the offer as he had to take care of his ailing family members. Following this, Afi offered to reconstruct Subair’s dilapidated house and gifted him with the Argentina-themed house.
