KARACHI: Two people sustained injuries and 120 huts were gutted when a fire broke out in slums located in the Teen Hatti area of the metropolis on Tuesday night.
According to fire brigade officials, a massive fire broke out in the slums located beneath Teen Hatti Bridge. As a result, two people sustained injuries and more than 120 huts were gutted.
Soon after the incident, three fire brigade vehicles, rescue teams and a huge contingent of police, rangers reached the scene and brought the fire under control after a hectic effort of two hours.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment. Fire brigade officials further said that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
In a separate incident of similar in nature that took place in February 2019 in Sanghar, three children were burnt to death as fire gutted a hutment in district Sanghar’s Kandiari area.
The girls, eight-year-old Chandni, four-year-old Gori, and two-year-old Riyona, were visiting their relatives in Kandiari, where the incident took place.
