Two arrested for ‘trying to rape’ minors in Landhi, Malir

KARACHI: Two suspects were arrested over alleged cases of rape attempts in Karachi’s Landhi and Malir areas on Wednesday.

According to a resident of Quaidabad, an eight-year-old boy was going to buy bread in a hotel near the Bhains Colony area when the suspect took him to a cattle form and tried to abuse him. However, the boy was escaped from the place.

Later, the area people caught the accused and handed over to the area police. In another incident, a shopkeeper trying to rape a minor girl in the Malir area was arrested.

The victim went to the nearest store to buy something where the shopkeeper tried to rap with the girl and tried to seduce her.

Sources said as the suspect was caught by the locals, a large number of people rushed to the location and beat up the suspect.

Later, they handed over the accused to police and a case was registered against him on behalf of the girl’s family, the police said.

In November last year, a government school teacher was arrested for his alleged involvement in the sexual assault of a student in the Shah Faisal Colony neighborhood.

The Shah Faisal police had registered a case against the teacher, who had been identified as Rashid, on the complaint of a man named Imran. The complainant in the FIR had said that the suspect had subjected his three-year-old son to rape.
