ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) today (Sunday) has banned inter-provincial road travel on weekends as coronavirus infections continue to increase across the country.
According to a notification, “It has been decided to ban inter-provincial transport for two days a week (Saturday and Sunday) with effect from April 10, at 12 am, to April 25, 12:59am.”
The coronavirus monitoring body also announced new restrictions: Goods, freight, medical, and other emergency services will be exempted; Railway to continue to operate 7 days a week with 70% occupancy. The statement informed that the ban will be reviewed by NCOC on April 20.
Earlier today (Sunday), Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani had announced that all private and government schools across Sindh will close for two weeks from April 6.
“In light of the Covid-19 situation, we have decided to suspend physical classes for grades one to eight at all government and private schools across the province for fifteen days from April 6 (Tuesday),” he had tweeted.
The third wave of coronavirus continues to wreak havoc as Pakistan recorded over 5,000 new coronavirus cases in the past day. According to the NCOC, Pakistan recorded 5,020 new coronavirus cases across the country while 81people succumbed to the deadly disease.
