Multiple terrorist attacks were reported in Pakistan on Thursday as the nation geared up for polling to select the rulers of the country for the next five years.
As per the details, a security official was martyred after unidentified men opened fire at a security forces vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district. Despite the attack, the police stated that voting continued in Kot Azam. The vehicle was on duty in the area.
“Polling is underway in Kot Azam,” said Tank Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shoaib. He clarified that the attack was not on any polling station in the area. A police party patrolling in the area was attacked, the deputy commissioner added.
Moreover, sounds of blasts were heard in different cities of Balochistan on Thursday. They added that sounds were reported in Turbat, Gogdan, Apsar, and Dank. According to sources, unidentified men targeted polling stations through attacks. There were no reports of loss of lives in the area.
These incidents come a day after twin blasts rocked two cities in Balochistan, resulting in at least 29 casualties. In Karachi, three men were killed in a grenade attack just one day before the polling.
On polling day today, mobile phone services are completely suspended across the country, while some areas also face the suspension of internet services.
