A claim circulating on social media alleges that a vehicle belonging to Muhammad Hanif Afridi, a cousin of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, was found to be carrying a large quantity of narcotics. The claim has sparked fresh debate within political circles.
According to a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by anchorperson Sadia Khalid, authorities allegedly recovered 12.5 maunds of hashish from the vehicle. The driver was reportedly taken into custody and a case registered against him. The post further claims that significant pressure is being exerted on the Excise Police to secure the suspect’s release.
The allegation has surfaced at a time when leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) have, over recent days, repeatedly levelled accusations against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister regarding alleged involvement in drug smuggling, placing the provincial government once again under criticism.
So far, no official statement has been issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the Chief Minister himself, or any law enforcement agency in response to the claim. The allegations circulating online have not been independently verified.
It is pertinent to note that claims originating on social media should be treated with caution, and conclusions should only be drawn after official investigations and statements from relevant authorities.
