An overwhelming majority of Pakistanis remain optimistic about the year 2026, although significant shifts in political, social and digital behaviour are also anticipated, according to a latest survey conducted by global market research firm Ipsos.
The survey found that 86 per cent of Pakistanis expressed overall optimism about 2026, while 63 per cent believe that political continuity will prevail in the country.
Data further shows that 84 per cent of respondents prefer online social interactions over face-to-face meetings. However, in contrast, 49 per cent said they intend to reduce their use of social media.
According to the survey, 70 per cent of Pakistanis expect a noticeable rise in women’s leadership roles in 2026, reflecting evolving social attitudes.
Additionally, 75 per cent of respondents said they have set new goals and resolutions for 2026, compared to 50 per cent in 2025. Career-related ambitions (43 per cent) and financial goals (34 per cent) emerged as the top priorities.
On the sporting front, 59 per cent of respondents expressed hope that the national cricket team’s performance will improve in 2026.
Meanwhile, 58 per cent of those surveyed believe that former Prime Minister Imran Khan will remain in jail during 2026.
