LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that her government’s public welfare initiatives have received international recognition, adding that the provincial administration has taken practical steps to help deserving families achieve their dream of owning a home.
Addressing administrative service officers from Sindh in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan had given her respect and recognition, for which she remained grateful to the country. She praised government officers and emphasised that teamwork and coordination were essential to resolving public issues effectively.
The chief minister said the office of the chief minister was not merely a position of authority but a responsibility to serve the people. She added that public welfare remained her top priority and that efforts to facilitate citizens continued despite various challenges.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that the responsibilities of government employees should not be limited to attending the office and marking their attendance. Instead, they should focus on resolving complex issues and providing relief to the public. She also referred to instances in which some members of her cabinet had failed to give adequate attention to citizens’ concerns.
Speaking about the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar housing scheme, the chief minister said a monitoring mechanism had been established to ensure transparency. She explained that loans for home construction were disbursed in phases, with construction progress inspected at each stage.
Maryam Nawaz further claimed that merit, rather than personal recommendations, had been the basis for official appointments, stressing that competence should remain a key consideration in government affairs.
