Six cops involved in alleged police encounter arrested

KARACHI: Six policemen involved in an alleged police encounter on the Malir River Dam near Korangi have been arrested.

One person was killed and two others were injured in the alleged police encounter. Police officials said that during the investigation, suspicions were found in the encounter and the officers were taken into custody after the statement of the family members.

“The robbers robbed us at gunpoint and fled,” the victim’s brother told the media outside Jinnah Hospital.

“Ten minutes before the police arrived, the robbers had robbed us,” he said. Upon reporting on the 15 helpline, the police came and opened fire on us and the police took a picture of my brother holding a pistol, he maintained.

According to SSP Korangi, the police reached the spot and a confrontation took place in which one person was killed and two others were injured.

Police said that the civilians were wounded by a small-arms bullet, but no weapons were found from the injured and the deceased man. There is no criminal record of those who were killed or injured. The victims have said that we are residents of Surjani Town, the higher authorities should take notice of the incident and provide justice.
