Sindh is set to launch the first phase of its Facial Recognition Attendance & Monitoring Evaluation System (Frames) in six districts, Karachi-East, Hyderabad, Naushahro Feroze, Ghotki, Jacobabad and Umerkot, on Monday, as part of a province-wide plan to digitize attendance in government schools.
The system will monitor the attendance of students and teachers, with officials saying it aims to curb absenteeism, eliminate proxy attendance and improve oversight.
According to 2026 data from the education department, the selected districts have a combined school workforce of 49,565, including 14,281 women and 35,284 men.
Across Sindh, the total education workforce stands at 207,440, comprising 59,136 female and 148,304 male staff.
Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah said the six districts were selected to test the system in diverse urban and rural settings before expanding it across the province.
He said Frames would provide verified, real-time attendance data and help ensure that school staff were effectively utilized. “This is the first step toward a more accountable public education system in Sindh,” he said.
Hyderabad has the largest workforce among the selected districts, with 13,729 staff, followed by Naushahro Feroze with 10,703 and Ghotki with 7,117.
