ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has sentenced the prime accused to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs1 million in a case involving the harassment of a 16-year-old student and the recording of an obscene video.
Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka convicted the accused, Raja Haris Naveed, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and handed down a seven-year prison sentence.
According to the court’s verdict, the convict was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs1 million. In case of non-payment, he will have to serve an additional six months in prison.
Meanwhile, the court acquitted co-accused Shahzaib, giving him the benefit of the doubt after finding that his involvement in facilitating the crime had not been established.
According to the case details, the accused allegedly lured the matriculation student into a drawing room and confined him there. The victim was subsequently harassed at gunpoint, and an obscene video was recorded without his consent.
After examining the available evidence and reviewing the proceedings, the court convicted the prime accused while ordering the acquittal of the co-accused.
