In a move aimed at improving travel facilities for residents of the metropolitan city, a decision has been made to purchase an additional 50 double-decker buses.
According to ARY News, a meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Board was held under the chairmanship of senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, during which several major decisions were approved to enhance transport facilities in Karachi as well as other parts of Sindh.
The meeting approved the procurement of 50 new double-decker buses for Karachi.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon stated that the purpose of introducing the double-decker buses is to improve urban mobility and provide better travel facilities for citizens.
He added that each double-decker bus will have the capacity to accommodate 126 passengers, which is expected to significantly reduce pressure on the public transport system.
However, the authorities have not yet announced the routes on which these buses will operate within Karachi.
It is worth noting that the Sindh government had previously purchased five double-decker buses last year, which currently operate from the airport to Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal.
