Earlier, IG Islamabad Akbar Nasir Khan submitted an unconditional pardon in the court, however, the court has not yet decided to approve the pardon or proceed with the proceedings.
It is pertinent to note that the court had also imposed a fine of Rs25,000 on IG Islamabad for arresting Shireen Mazari which was paid by the IG.
On May 22, Shireen Mazari was taken into custody from outside Adiala jail for the fifth time in 12 days despite court orders for her release.
The court had nullified the second detention order issued against Mazari under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The next day, the IHC summoned the IG Islamabad in response to a petition seeking initiation of contempt of court proceeding against IGP Khan.
Later on the same day, Mazari addressed the media in which she announced quitting the PTI but also active politics. She stated that her health and her daughter both suffered extensively during her detention.
