ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court of Islamabad approved bail and ordered the release of human rights activists of Imaan Mazari.
A case was registered against Iman Mazari in Bara Kahu police station under terrorism provisions and other provisions.
The case was heard by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasanat Zul-Qarnain. At the request of Imaan’s lawyers, the court reduced the bail to Rs. 10,000 and ordered her release.
A day earlier, Imaan Mazari was sent on a 14-day judicial remand by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad.
Mazari was presented in Judge Abul Hasnaat Zulqurnain’s court after her three-day physical remand ended. Her mother, former federal minister Shireen Mazari, was also present in court on Friday.
Mazari’s lawyer also filed a petition for bail after arrest which was set for September 4 by the court. After the proceedings ended, Mazari’s lawyers along with the president and secretary of the Islamabad Bar Association told the court staff that they wanted to request a change in the date of proceedings.

The lawyers met the judge in his chamber, where the date was brought forward to September 2. When Mazari’s lawyer told the judge that her health was not in good condition, the judge ordered that she be kept in a women’s police station in Islamabad.
Mazari was taken into custody after addressing a Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement rally in Islamabad where she allegedly made provocative statements. She has already been granted bail in a sedition case.
Earlier this week, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) restricted the law enforcement authorities from shifting Imaan Mazari out of the federal capital while she was under arrest.
A divisional bench comprising Justice Mian Gul Hassan and Justice Aurangzeb heard Imaan’s plea seeking details of all disclosed or undisclosed cases against her. The bench also restrained from arresting her in any case registered after August 20.
The petitioner’s lawyers stated that it became necessary to file such a plea as two cases were registered against Imaan pertaining to terrorism and sedition.
The lawyer informed the court that Imaan secured bail in both cases but was arrested in a third case after being released from Adiala jail.
The petitioner’s counsels contended that the cases registered against Imaan were based on mala fide intent. He urged the court to direct the authorities to disclose how many cases have been registered against Imaan.
The counsels moved the court to restrict the authorities from shifting Imaan out of Islamabad in any other case. The bench inquired how many cases are registered against Imaan across the country.
The court directed the interior secretary to seek reports from the provinces and inform the court. The court further restricted the authorities from shifting her outside of Islamabad.
