RAWALPINDI: The head of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid has said he stands by his statement, saying Imran Khan rightly said about Asif Ali Zardari, the PPP Co-Chairperson, that he wanted to get Khan murdered.
Hi statement came after Islamabad Police issued last warning, asking him to appear before Aabpara police on complaint, filed by PPP Rawalpindi Division leader Raja Inayat-ur-Rehman in the office of SSP Operation Islamabad, stating that Sheikh Rashid in an interview on a news channel, aired on Jan 27, alleged that Asif Zardari got assistance of some terrorist to kill Imran Khan while talking about a conspiracy.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Sheikh Rashid said “I stand by my statement. Imran Khan is right (when he says) Asif Zardari wants him to get assassinated. There are serious threats to Imran Khan’s life. Their plan is to disqualify and subtract Imran Khan (from politics). When nothing was found in 16 ministries, the government resorted to cheap tactics. My lawyer Naeem Haider submitted a statement to the police station, which the police refused to admit.”

Sheikh Rashid further said “(Islamabad) Police were trying their best to arrest me in any case. First they seized Lal Haveli, which is our personal property. High Court set aside that seizure.”
Sheikh Rashid claimed he hadn’t received any notice from Islamabad Police, announcing that he was being represented by a team of lawyers comprising Sardar Razzaq, Naeem Haider and Intizar Hussain. He said Police was being used to conduct his media trial.
