ISLAMABAD: Several government schools in the federal capital are receiving illegal fees and threatening the parents to pay it in a given period of time, otherwise, their children would either not be allowed to take the annual examinations.
According to details, the government schools are illegally charging Rs500 to Rs1000 per student in the name of the School Management Committee (SMC) funds.
Sources have informed that the fees were being collected on the orders of the higher management. The management of the schools was compelling the parents to deposit the fee of their children before their examinations.
Relevant sources have informed that the Federal Directorate of Education is not providing the funds and have directed the schools’ administration to run its own affairs by taking money from the children.
When contacted, the officials of the Directorate of Education refused to comment in this regard. The parents have appealed to the higher authorities and federal education minister Shafqat Mahmood to take action against the school’s administrations.
