In another terrorist incident in Balochistan, seven miners working for a private copper mining company were abducted by a group of armed men in the Mahian Kaur area of Chagai district on Wednesday, officials said.
According to company officials, eight armed men arrived at the mining site on motorcycles, entered the workers’ camp and took the miners hostage at gunpoint.
The attackers remained in the area for around seven hours. The mine is located about 18 kilometers west of Chagai town.
The assailants seized equipment, weapons from security guards and other items from the camp before taking seven miners away.
The abducted workers included three labourers from Gilgit, Wajahat, Wajid Shahid and Sabir, and four local workers: Ziauddin of Dalbandin, Shah Saleem of Mahian, Chagai, Saeed Muhammad of Mahian, and another worker whose identity was not immediately available.
Sources at the mine said the attackers also took away vehicles, including a Zamyad truck and a four-wheel-drive pickup, as well as more than 20 solar panels, a motorcycle, bedding and kitchen equipment.
The abduction comes less than a month after seven labourers were kidnapped by unidentified armed men who blocked the Turbat-Mand Road in the Kalatak area of Balochistan’s Kech district.
Six of the abducted workers were later found dead, with their bullet-riddled bodies recovered from the Nasirabad area of Turbat on July 30, 2026. One worker had been killed at the scene during the initial abduction, bringing the total death toll to seven.
