Remarking, the apex court said that on August 20, a two-judge bench issued an order on the application, which was not already pending. The order said the case would be filed before the same bench on August 26.
The apex court said that the bench of Faez Issa and Justice Jamal Mandokhail on August 26 was not available. The question arises as to whether a special bench should be constituted for this self notice and the directives of the August 20 order will remain in force. The Supreme Court ordered the parties to file responses to the harassment of journalists.
During the remarks in the case, the court further said that the issue of harassment of journalists would remain ineffective till the formation of a new bench. Written orders written in court should not be considered final. The final order will be issued later, the court maintained.
The Supreme Court later adjourned the hearing of the case till August 25. The Supreme Court summoned the Attorney General, the President of the Supreme Court Bar, and the Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council for assistance.
