Two girls riding an electric scooter were killed on the spot after being hit by a vehicle driven by Abu Zar, the underage son of Islamabad High Court Judge Justice Muhammad Asif.
According to details, the tragic incident occurred last night when Abu Zar was allegedly driving an overspeeding Land Cruiser. At 1:10 am, on Constitution Avenue, the electric scooter was thrown several feet away due to the impact. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was coming at extremely high speed, which caused the severe collision.
The young girls who died in the heartbreaking accident were identified as Samreen and Tabinda.
Police stated that as soon as they received the information, officers reached the site and initiated legal proceedings. Initial investigation found that the Land Cruiser’s overspeeding was the primary cause of the accident. The driver has been arrested and a case has been registered.
According to the FIR, Adnan Tajammal—the brother of Samreen Hussain, one of the victims—filed the case. He stated that his 25–26-year-old sister worked a private job and was pursuing a course in interior design.
At 1:10 am, she was returning home from PNCA with her friend Tabinda Batool on their scooter when the accident occurred.
The FIR further states that the complainant’s brother, Arsalan, was waiting for them on the Arslan Bridge. When they did not arrive by 1:45 am, the complainant called, and the police informed him that his sister and her friend had been struck by a white vehicle while riding their scooter.
Both were critically injured and taken to the hospital. When the complainant reached PIMS Hospital, both had passed away.
The Secretariat Police Station registered the case late at night. The accused was arrested and presented before a local court, which granted a four-day physical remand for further investigation. Police stated that the accused hit the PNCA employees due to reckless and negligent driving.
Police further revealed that Abu Zar did not possess a CNIC or a driving license. Moments before the accident, he had been recording a video on Snapchat.
Immediately after the collision, he threw away his mobile phone. Police say the phone must be recovered to check the video. A medical test will also be conducted to determine his exact age.
