The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) have announced that they will remain closed on June 25 and 26, 2026, in observance of Ashura holidays.
Earlier, the federal government announced nationwide public holidays on June 25 and 26 to mark the observance of Ashura.
The SBP also confirmed that it will remain closed on June 25 and 26, 2026, as these dates have been declared public holidays by the Government of Pakistan on account of Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram 1448 A.H.).
Meanwhile in a notice issued to TRE Certificate Holders, employees, and other stakeholders, the PSX said that trading activities will remain suspended on Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26, corresponding to the 9th and 10th of Muharram 1448 A.H.
The stock exchange traditionally observes holidays on major religious occasions, including Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Ashura, and Rabi-ul-Awal.
