KARACHI: The corrupt officers of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) continued fake operations against illegal constructions in the metropolis, it has been revealed.
Earlier on Sunday, Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah during a visit to Karachi’s Lyari ordered demolition of all illegal constructions immediately and the registration of FIR against the persons involved.
Nasir Hussain Shah also asked for actions against the officers of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) involved in illegal constructions. He also ordered the immediate suspension of former director Malik Aijaz and other officers involved.
According to details, the city’s development authority has not taken any legal action against the illegal constructions and no person has been arrested yet. Illegal construction continued in the city, including Lyari.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Establishment has launched an investigation against the officers of Jamshed Town and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town for allegedly receiving Rs. 250 million for illegal constructions.
The anti-corruption department has sought details from Director Malik Ijaz, Hameed Zardari, Rehman Bhatti, Deputy Director Zargam and 16 other corrupt officers.
Relevant sources informed that several illegal constructions are taking place in Lyari. Instead of taking legal actions, the SBCA officials only issue fake notifications and remove banners.
Sources also said that the SBCA officials inform the building owners before any operation against the construction. In this regard, the corrupt officials receive a huge amount of bribes.
