GUJRAT: Four people including three transgenders were arrested for attacking Gujrat police station.
A group of transgender people, angered by alleged mistreatment at the hands of police officers, rampaged through Saddar Police Station in Kharian tehsil of Gujrat district on Sunday.
The incident unfolded after some members of the transgender community claimed they were subjected to torture while unlawfully detained.
According to reports, several transgender individuals were returning home after attending an event late at night when they were stopped by police officers who attempted to conduct a body search. A confrontation erupted between the transgender individuals and the police, resulting in their forcible transfer to the police station where they were purportedly subjected to further mistreatment.
Upon learning of the situation, a group of transgender individuals, led by their leader, surrounded the police station and proceeded to hurl stones, causing damage to the property. Video footage of the incident depicts the aggressive actions of the transgender individuals, including the removal of furniture from the premises and the forceful ejection of a police official from the station.
