PESHAWAR: In a significant boost to regional connectivity, Saudi Airlines (Saudia) officially resumed its flight operations at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) today, ending a brief suspension that had been in place since late February.
The restoration was marked by the arrival of Flight SV-796 from Jeddah, which touched down smoothly in Peshawar at 9:39 AM. The return of the flagship carrier was met with enthusiasm from both airport staff and travelers, signaling a return to normalcy for one of the region’s most vital international routes.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed the formal reinstatement of the airline’s schedule. Key highlights of the day’s operations include:
Suspension Period: Saudia had previously suspended its operations at Peshawar Airport on February 28, 2026.
Arrival: SV-796 arrived from Jeddah at 9:39 AM.
Departure: The return flight is scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia at 2:35 PM, carrying a full load of passengers.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere at Bacha Khan International Airport was one of celebration. Passengers expressed immense relief and joy over the resumption, noting that the direct link to Jeddah is essential for both the expatriate workforce and those traveling for religious pilgrimages.
“The restoration of these flights is a major convenience for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” noted a spokesperson for the airport. “It streamlines travel to the Kingdom and eases the pressure on other provincial hubs.”
With operations now back on track, Saudi Airlines is expected to maintain its regular flight frequency, further strengthening the bilateral ties and travel links between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
