The brutal murder of Sarah Inam has sparked outrage in Pakistan. The nation woke up to devastating news of a husband killing his own newlywed wife in Islamabad but she was more than that.
The case became notable soon after the murderer turned out to be the son of a prominent senior journalist Ayaz Amir. Many tweets claimed the deceased was Sara Bibi, a wife of Shahnawaz and a daughter-in-law of Ayaz Amir who lost her life due to her husband’s doubting nature.

But Sara was more than that. The 37-year-old woman belonged to a well-rounded background with a strong professional experience in the Gulf region, Pakistan, and Canada aswell.
Born Sara Inam, she was an economist who graduated with a postgraduate from the University of Waterloo in Canada and had been living and working in Abu Dhabi.
She worked for the UAE Government for the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development. Her friend described Sara as a ‘bright and articulate woman’. She was a gentle soul, with many friends in the UAE, which had been her home for the last 15 years.
If we talk about how skilled and capable she was at her work, Sara had also worked for agencies like USAID and Deloitte.

A friend of Sara termed the statement of Sara’s murderer Shahnawaz who claimed that she attempted to strangle him as a joke as Sarah was a ‘pacifist’ and ‘calm person in nature’.
While calling it a senseless murder, a friend of Sarah pointed out how his deceased friend who weighed 40kg could try to kill a man like Shahnawaz.
