A private airline flight traveling from Riyadh to Islamabad made an emergency landing in Karachi after a passenger suddenly fell ill, officials said.

According to Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) officials, the passenger’s condition worsened while the plane was over Iranian airspace. The pilot immediately contacted Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested permission for an emergency landing.

Following clearance from ATC, the aircraft safely touched down at Karachi Airport. Medical personnel were on standby and provided urgent care to the passenger immediately after landing.

Earlier in December, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight en route from Jeddah to Lahore made an unscheduled landing at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Flight PK860, carrying 437 passengers, switched its transponder to the 7700 emergency code due to a technical issue while still in Saudi airspace.

Officials said that the safety of passengers remained the top priority and that both landings were executed smoothly without further complications.
