Rising inflation could lead to anarchy

MM News Staff by MM News Staff

Another bad news for the poor people of Pakistan, who are suffering from the worst inflation, is that the price of wheat flour has reached the highest level in the country’s history. According to the data released by the Bureau of Statistics, the price of a 20 kg bag of Wheat flour in Karachi and Quetta has reached to Rs2400.

Wheat flour is being sold up to Rs. 120 per kg in Quetta as during last 15 days, price of 20 kg bag of flour in the city has jacked up by Rs. 480, while in the same period price of 20 kg flour bag has been increased by Rs260 in Karachi . The same situation is in different cities of Pakhtunkhwa, however, in Punjab and Islamabad the prices is comparatively very low as a 20kg bag of wheat flour is available at Rs980 there.

Wheat flour is an important and basic item of human food, especially in our region, that is why governments try their best to keep the price of flour and wheat at such a level that it is easily accessible to every section of the society. It is the primary duty of good and responsible governments to never show negligence in this regard, but unfortunately, in Pakistan the situation is totally different as our governments don’t care how the people are living and how it is difficult for them to meet their expenses.

This time inflation has reached beyond the tolerance of common people. The sad thing is that due to the criminal negligence of the governments, inflation is getting badly out of control and there is no such authority to come into action and do something to control it.

General Ayub Khan was Pakistan’s first military dictator and a powerful ruler, but the pillars of his powerful government are said to have been shaken by public protests against a mere few pisas increase in the price of sugar. The public was outraged at the surge and took to the streets to protest, which played a major role in bringing down Ayub Khan’s government.

Today, the nation stands at a turning point in the history. Inflation has ruined people’s lives, as a result of which the eyes of everyone are red with intense hatred and anger towards the government and the rulers. Meanwhile, the country’s economy is on the brink of collapse and political stability is needed to restore it. If the government does not control inflation and especially does not pay attention to the measures to reduce the price of flour, the lava of public anger may explode due to some other political and external factors and if this happens, it will lead to further instability in the country and then it will  be impossible not only for the government but also for the state to control anarchy.
