A recent harrowing video of an incident where a 10-year-old Fatima could be seen lying on the floor after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by her ‘Pir’ in Ranipur of Sindh has trembled social media.
Who was Fatima Fariro?
A ten-year-old Fatima lost her life due to apparent violence, and videos displaying signs of abuse on the innocent girl’s body had also surfaced. Fatima used to work at the house of a prominent figure.
In the video, the child can be seen suffering in distress at the employer’s house, and later, Fatima’s body was buried without a post-mortem examination.
Asad Ali Shah
Asad Ali Shah, is an influential Pir in Khairpur’s Ranipur area, who has a political background. He and his wife Hina Shah are accused of torturing minor maids in the Haveli.
Judicial Magistrate court in Ranipur on Monday granted the police five-day physical remand of influential Pir Asad Shah — the main suspect involved in the murder of 10-year-old domestic help.
Prime suspect is ‘associated with int’l gang’
The counsel of Fatima murder case claimed that the prime suspect in the murder case is associated with an international gang.
As per details, the plaintiff’s counsel urged to block the CNIC of prime suspect Asad Shah and his wife Hina Shah as they are linked with an international gang as well.
He said that police are providing facilities to the prime suspect Asad Shah and he is kept in a house at night.
‘Barbaric’ murder
Speaking to media persons after the hearing of the case, the victim’s parents said that the killing of their daughter was “barbaric” and demanded justice.
The parents said that the entire Sindh is speaking in their support and they will get justice for their daughter’s murder, adding that lawyers visited them and assured them to fight their case for free.

Sexual assault confirmed
DIG Sukkur division, Javed Jiskani said the medical report has confirmed the physical and sexual assault of Fatima. The top court further said DNA samples have been collected from the residents of Ranipur Haveli and after the report, the culprit, who raped Fatima will be identified.
Conclusion
We have a history of injustices in the cases like these where influential walk free either due to lack of proofs, poor police reporting or striking deal with the agrieved family. Recently, we have example of Nazim Jokhio case in Karachi.
Though police is claiming to provide justice to the affected family at any cost, but non-arrest of another prime suspect, Hina Shah in the case and provision of reported facilities to Asad Ali Shah is raising questions on the progress.
