Rumors are circulating that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is set to reprise his role as the country’s foreign minister, as the ruling PML-N and his party near finalization of a power-sharing agreement, sources familiar with the matter reveal.
Insiders suggest that Bilawal is poised to join Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, with the coveted portfolio of the foreign ministry. Despite initial reluctance, Bilawal reportedly consented to assume the position for the second time, following recent understandings reached by party leaders.
Negotiations are underway to iron out the finer details and timeline for the PPP’s formal inclusion into the federal cabinet. Prime Minister Shehbaz is purportedly pushing for the PPP’s integration before the upcoming budget presentation in early June, although the exact timing remains uncertain.
Speculations abound regarding the transition, with sources affirming the PPP’s anticipated inclusion in the federal cabinet come June. The current foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, is reportedly being reassigned as the deputy premier to facilitate Bilawal’s appointment.
However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has rebuffed claims of the PPP’s imminent cabinet entry. Speaking to a private TV channel in Peshawar, Kundi emphasized that any decision regarding the party’s involvement in the federal government would be made by its Central Executive Committee.
