The Ramadan Relief Package Rs 13000 has been approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to support low-income families across Pakistan before the holy month.

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal announced that the government will also expand the program to cover 1.7 million additional households.

The minister shared the update while speaking at the launch of the Monthly Development Report in Islamabad. He said the decision reflects the government’s effort to provide financial relief when household expenses usually increase during Ramadan.

According to officials, the stipend aims to help vulnerable families manage essential spending such as food and daily necessities. By widening the scope, authorities expect more deserving citizens to receive assistance in time for the fasting month.

The Ramadan Relief Package Rs 13000 comes as part of Pakistan’s broader social protection strategy.

In recent years, the federal government has used targeted cash support to reduce the burden on poorer households, especially during periods of higher inflation and seasonal demand.

Ahsan Iqbal also highlighted signs of improving financial discipline, noting that Rs5.5 billion had been saved in development projects between July and January. He linked these savings to governance reforms and better oversight of public funds.

Economic indicators presented at the event showed steady activity. Tax collections reached Rs7.2 trillion during the same period, while remittances totaled $19.7 billion, signaling continued confidence from overseas Pakistanis.
