Police in Pakistan’s Punjab province have arrested three suspects, including a religious teacher, over allegations of sexually abusing children at a seminary and recording explicit videos of the victims.
According to police, the arrests were made after videos allegedly linked to the abuse circulated on social media, prompting Sahiwal District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Usman Tipu to order an immediate investigation and legal action.
The incident reportedly occurred at a religious seminary in the Kamir area of Sahiwal. Following the DPO’s directives, Kamir police arrested three named suspects: Maulvi Umar Hayat, Hafiz Sanwal, and Ahmad.
Police said the suspects are being questioned and that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are collecting and examining all relevant evidence to support the prosecution.
DPO Muhammad Usman Tipu has directed investigators to ensure a transparent inquiry conducted strictly on merit and instructed officials to provide all necessary legal protection and support to the affected children.
