QUETTA: Security forces have foiled an attempt by militants to establish a checkpoint in Kalat, Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the militants, resulting in the killing of five militants. Security forces also safely rescued 23 hostages from different locations during the operation.
Weapons and Vehicles Recovered
According to ISPR, a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives used by the militants was recovered during the clearance operation.
Security forces also took into custody six trucks, three passenger buses and two cars allegedly being used by the militants.
Clearance Operation Continues
ISPR said clearance operations against militants are continuing in Kalat and surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure the security of the area.
Military authorities reaffirmed their resolve to continue operations against terrorism under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam initiative.
Security forces and other law-enforcement agencies remain committed to maintaining peace and security across the country and to eliminating the threat of terrorism.
