HANGU: Eight militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij were killed after security forces mounted a strong retaliatory response to an attack on a security forces convoy in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Six Pakistan Army personnel, including two officers, were martyred while defending the country during the attack.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a security forces convoy was travelling through the Hangu area when Khawarij militants ambushed the troops and opened fire.
The security forces immediately took defensive positions and responded effectively. An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in the killing of eight militants.

The personnel who embraced martyrdom while fighting the militants were:

Sepoy Shakeel Ahmed (Shaheed)
Sepoy Hamza (Shaheed)

Clearance Operation Underway
Following the attack, a clearance operation was launched in the area to locate and eliminate any other militants who may be present. The operation is still ongoing, according to ISPR.
The military’s media wing reaffirmed that security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country. It said operations against militant elements would continue under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision.
ISPR said the sacrifices of the fallen personnel further strengthen the national resolve to ensure lasting peace and security in the country.
