LAHORE: In a historic move aimed at nurturing athletic talent across the province, the Sports Board Punjab has announced the establishment of 16 free sports academies, accessible to both boys and girls without any enrollment fees.
DG Sports Punjab, Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, officially tasked the coaches with the responsibility of launching the initiative, marking the first time in the country’s history that such a comprehensive network of no-cost facilities is being rolled out.
The new academies will be strategically located in all divisions and districts of Punjab to ensure widespread access.
The facilities will cater to a diverse range of disciplines, including boxing, athletics, swimming, table tennis, badminton, football, hockey, archery, wushu, karate, taekwondo, squash, and cricket. This initiative underscores the provincial government’s commitment to democratizing sports training and providing opportunities for youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
