LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) is reported to have arrested nine terrorists belonging to banned outfits during combing operations in various districts of the province. The arrests were made during the ongoing week, as part of the CTD’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
Media reports quoted sources from cTD as saying that the arrested terrorists have been identified as Nazir, Fahad, Arshad, Usman, Sher Muhammad, Tahir, Wazir and Abdul Rasheed. They were taken into custody from Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Sargodha. A large quantity of explosives, arms, and equipment used for making suicide jackets were also recovered from them.
CTD officials have stated that the terrorist networks were planning to carry out attacks in sensitive districts, which were thwarted by the timely action of the department. In total, 340 combing and search operations were carried out across the province during the ongoing week, leading to the arrest of 41 suspects.
The CTD officials have vowed to continue their efforts to combat terrorism in the province at every level. The successful arrests and recovery of explosives will undoubtedly help to prevent any potential attacks in the region, bringing relief to the local population. The CTD has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies.
