DERA ISMAIL KHAN: One of the leading stalwart of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur has been arrested from outside the premises of local court after hours long stand off.

His arrest came after Gandapur surrendered himself following a five-hour-long standoff in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, in the premises of Peshawar High Court Dera Bench.

The District Police Officer (DPO) Dera led the police team that took Gandapur into custody, and he was later transferred to an undisclosed location. It’s worth noting that Gandapur, a former federal minister, had been present at the High Court for almost five hours before his arrest.

A heavy contingent of police was present outside the High Court since Thursday morning. Minutes later, his brother and former provincial minister Faisal Amin Gandapur was also arrested.

Talking to media before his arrest, Ali Amin Gandapur said “I have secured bail in all the FIRs, the police do not have any warrant against me and there is no FIR against me.”

He said he had been added in unknown FIRs by the police.

He said “we have to fight the imported government till the end.”

Meanwhile, reports gathered by MM News revealed that a case has been registered against the outspoken leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf in Golra police station, Islamabad, while the police of Bhakkar city in Punjab have also registered a case against Ali Amin under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

PTI leader Dr Shireen Mazari posted a video no Twitter, purporting to show DPO Dera Ismail Khan saying he had orders from high ups to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur at any cost.

So DPO DIK desperate to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur even illegally! This is the fear PDM has of PTI so they are prepared to destroy civil admin, violate Constitution & Rule of Law to attack PTI ldrship & workers. Shameful role of bureaucracy sadly. pic.twitter.com/o6A3QSv5hD

Reacting on his arrest, his party Chairman Imran Khan too posted the same video and and said “Today complete law of the jungle prevails in Pak. PDM & handlers have a one point agenda – that is to go after PTI workers & leadership. It was decided preemptively to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur despite bails. But they will still be decimated in the elections InshaAllah.”
