LAHORE: Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry has termed the resolution passed by National Assembly minutes ago on Thursday as ‘foolish’, claiming that chief organizer of PMLN Maryam Nawaz wanted her own uncle, PM Shehbaz Sharif to get disqualified.
Addressing a news conference minutes after the NA rejected SC verdict, Fawad Chaudhry issued a stern warning to the federal government over a resolution presented in parliament. He said the resolution had no constitutional or legal standing, and that only a two-thirds majority could nullify a Supreme Court verdict.
Chaudhry further cautioned that if all constitutional channels were closed, a huge political movement would be launched in the country. He added that the caretaker government would lose its constitutional and legal status after April 22, and could face severe repercussions under Article 6 of the constitution if it continued to operate beyond that date.

He emphasized that Article 68 of the Constitution prohibits criticism of judges and army figures, and therefore, ministers who reject the SC verdict committed contempt of court.
The senior PTI leader expressed concern over the government’s reluctance to step down from power and present itself before the masses. He highlighted the current economic crisis and its adverse effects on the country’s citizens, saying that people are losing jobs, and the brain drain is on the rise, with more than 800,000 citizens leaving the country.
He also pointed out that dozens of lives have been lost in the quest for essential items such as flour, emphasizing the urgent need to end the political crisis to bring an end to the economic crisis in the country.
Fawad Chaudhry urged the government to accept the SC verdict and end the political crisis to alleviate the suffering of the citizens. He reminds the government that it is their responsibility to prioritize the interests of the country and its people above all else
