KARACHI: A delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly to visit the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Bahadurabad headquarters in Karachi today (Thursday).
According to details, the PTI had started reaching out to its disgruntled government ally after MQM-P recently expressed its displeasure, again, over the 6th population and housing census.
The development came after PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari invited MQM to join the Sindh government if it quits the federal government. A day earlier PPP delegation also met with the MQM-P leaders at Bahadurabad as both the parties decided not to accept the results.
The MQM-P is part of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led ruling coalition at the centre but its federal minister Aminul Haque did not endorse the census results and wrote a dissenting note when the federal cabinet approved it a week ago.
During the meeting, support will also be sought from the MQM for the PTI candidate in the by-elections to be held in PS 88 Malir, according to the sources.
Sources further informed that Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, who is already in favor of good relations with the MQM, has called the MQM leaders and informed them about the arrival of the PTI delegation in Bahadurabad.
On December 23, the federal cabinet approved the presentation of the 6th Census report before the Council of Common Interests (CCI) for final approval and allowed the interior ministry to amend the Exit Control List (ECL) to implement various court decisions.
