ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Monday) has asserted that providing relief to the poor segment of the society is the PTI government’s top priority.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while chairing a meeting in Islamabad regarding the provision of direct subsidy to the deserving and poor families on the purchase of essential commodities including food items.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing about the proposed Ehsaas Food Stamp Program. Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar informed the meeting that under this program direct subsidy will be provided to the poor people for the purchase of essential commodities.
Lauding the proposed program, the premier directed the concerned authorities to finalize the mechanism and statistics regarding the proposed program so that it could be launched at the earliest.
“It is utmost effort of the government to minimize the impact of price hike on the poor people,” he said, adding, “We are fully cognizant of this responsibility and will go to any extent to fulfill it.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with Senator Faisal Javed and Senator Zeeshan Khanzada and discussed matters related to the expansion of Panahgaahs network and the implementation of “Nobody Sleeps Hungry” programme.
The Prime Minister asserted that the wellbeing of the poor and deserving people is the top priority of the PTI-led federal government. “The government was endeavoring to help the deserving people at individual as well as institution level in consultation and cooperation with all stakeholders,” he added.
