PM Khan holds meeting to control smuggling

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan led a high-level meeting where he discussed steps to control smuggling in the country.

According to reports, each year around $7billion worth of smuggling is reported annually. To control it, the government has given green signal to the national anti-smuggling strategies.

The officials also agreed on to follow already formed management process. These steps are expected to promote job opportunities in nearby border areas and boost revenues at the same time.

The lead role, in this case, is given to the Customs department of the country. The meeting also decided to recruite at least 2000 people to reform human resources department of Customs.

Sources revealed that the high-level meeting in the country’s capital was attended by Law Minister Barrister Farogh Naseem, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Interior Minister Brig (r) Ejaz Ahmed Shah, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan along with other senior officials.

Earlier, the prime minister met senior officials including Federal Secretary, Younas Dagha to discuss various issues. PM also applauded the services and devotion of Federal Secretary.
